What do you want your future to be like?
Hello there! My name is Hawa Fallah, and I am from Guinea Conakry. Growing up in a large family, with a hardworking yet uneducated father and a mother who always did her utmost, taught me many valuable lessons. While having a big family has its advantages and disadvantages, it should never stop you from pursuing your dreams.
Less than one percent of us were fortunate enough to get the chance to come to the United States and chase the dreams we’ve always craved. Coming to the States has given me the opportunity to follow my dreams and view life from different perspectives. The life I had in Africa and the life I have now are vastly different. In Africa, it was hard to imagine having a goal or future worth fighting for, because even with an education, job opportunities were so scarce that you had to give up on everything you believed in.
One of my biggest dreams, which has been close to my heart for as long as I can remember, is to create and design amazing clothing, shoes, and bags for both women and men.
What is fashion? What does fashion mean to you?
To me, fashion is a way to tell my story, to learn from it, and to accept that everyone is unique in their own ways. Fashion is the best way to express oneself, to perform in a favored style, and to convey how one wants to be approached. Sewing clothes and customizing outfits to fit perfectly brings me immense happiness. Seeing someone wear something I helped create is a lifelong desire, and I hope to achieve this dream with your support.
